OUR PASTOR

Dr. Mary Lou Codman-Wilson
In her career, Dr. Codman-Wilson has traveled and taught extensively in North America and Asia when she worked for ACMC (Association of Church Missions Committees) and WEF (World Evangelical Fellowship), respectively. Her cross-cultural experience has also included immersion in the Asian-Indian Community in Chicago.
She took her advanced degrees in an effort to improve cross-cultural communication across various people groups. Her Masters of Theological Studies is in Hindu-Buddhist-Christian dialogue. Her Ph.D. from Garrett Seminary/Northwestern University in Chicago is on Asian American identity issues and well-being. She was an adjunct faculty at Garrett Seminary, teaching on cross-cultural understanding and field education, and at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, teaching on Spiritual Formation. She has taught ESL using the curriculum that she wrote, Of Bananas and Hard-Boiled Eggs.
In August 2010, Dr. Codman-Wilson left the pastorate at Christ Community Church, where she had served for ten years, to pastor New Hope Bible Fellowship and continue discipleship, cross-cultural education, ESL teaching, and equipping Christians to be more effective communicators in word and deed in multicultural teams and contexts. Erin Rhodes
Erin started working as Office Administrator in January of 2018. One of the few Caucasian Americans in the church, she comes to the New Hope community from her home in Virginia. Before starting as an undergraduate at Wheaton College, she spent a year as a volunteer for a service organization in Pennsylvania living and serving with internationals. As an environmental science major, she took a year internship in Thailand working on issues of holistic farming for small farmers.

Sam Lau
Canadian Chinese
Sam preached monthly, led the weekly bible studies, and monthly healing services for the Church. He completed his first masters at Wheaton on Christian formation and ministry, and his second masters in Biblical exegesis. He began his PhD in that field in 2020.

Sarah Swygart
I became connected with New Hope Bible Fellowship when I attended Graduate School at Wheaton College from 2015-2017. Currently, I work as a Marriage and Family therapist at a private practice in the west suburbs but I have maintained my connection with NHBF by working for Dr. Mary Lou as one of her secretaries. I have worked for Dr. Mary Lou for more than 2 years now and I am blessed to be in relationship with such an amazing woman.

Evan Lature

A friend, a mentor, a worshiper, and a lover of Jesus. Passionate about discipleship, community, walking alongside others while collaborating with the Holy Spirit, and seeking God's beauty hidden underneath brokenness. As of 2020, Evan is on staff with an international student outreach in Norfolk, Virginia.

Alex has maintained his membership both in Hong Kong, where he completed his JSD, and in Singapore where he is a post Doc. research associate. He is the Co-Author with Dr. Mary Lou of their upcoming book Thinking Outside the Box. Currently, he is the weekly zoom meeting Coordinator for the Church.

Dambudzo Mushambi
Zimbabwe
Dambudzo is from Zimbabwe and has done university ministry in South Africa. He is working with international graduate students at Wheaton while he completes his masters before returning to South Africa. Here he is in the New Hope kitchen carving a turkey for Thanksgiving.
VOLUNTEER WORSHIP LEADER

Given is from Indonesia and is a talented musician and sincere follower of Christ. He is a chemistry major at Wheaton College. We are blessed to have him on our team as an excellent accompanist on the piano.

Hanny Tishriana Wuysang

Hanny is from Indonesia and has completed her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wheaton Graduate school in 2018. She is working on her Ph.D program at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Her passion is for International Students and Third Culture Kids, and hopefully able to provide support through group counseling for these population.
She still occasionally comes to New Hope to lead worship.
