Dr. Mary Lou Codman-Wilson
In her career, Dr. Codman-Wilson has traveled and taught extensively in North America and Asia when she worked for ACMC (Association of Church Missions Committees) and WEF (World Evangelical Fellowship), respectively. Her cross-cultural experience has also included immersion in the Asian-Indian Community in Chicago.
She took her advanced degrees in an effort to improve cross-cultural communication across various people groups. Her Masters of Theological Studies is in Hindu-Buddhist-Christian dialogue. Her Ph.D. from Garrett Seminary/Northwestern University in Chicago is on Asian American identity issues and well-being. She was an adjunct faculty at Garrett Seminary, teaching on cross-cultural understanding and field education, and at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, teaching on Spiritual Formation. She has taught ESL using the curriculum that she wrote, Of Bananas and Hard-Boiled Eggs.
In August 2010, Dr. Codman-Wilson left the pastorate at Christ Community Church, where she had served for ten years, to pastor New Hope Bible Fellowship and continue discipleship, cross-cultural education, ESL teaching, and equipping Christians to be more effective communicators in word and deed in multicultural teams and contexts. She also writes a weekly review of books in the areas of: Spiritual Formation, Global Theology, Discipleship, and Missions. The weekly reviews may be found on her blog: marylousrevie
Annika is from Portland, Oregon and is currently and Interdisciplinary Studies student at Wheaton College. She has a passion for storytelling and creative writing and wants to write for film someday.
Erin started working as Office Administrator in January of 2018. One of the few Caucasian Americans in the church, she comes to the New Hope community from her home in Virginia. Before starting as an undergraduate at Wheaton College, she spent a year as a volunteer for a service organization in Pennsylvania living and serving with internationals. The program taught her the value both of learning from Christians with different world perspective and service to others both of which New Hope Bible Fellowship centers itself around. At Wheaton she's pursuing an Environmental Science degree and looking forward to an international internship through the Human Needs and Global Resources program. Additionally she loves singing in the Wheaton College Concert Choir and baking on the weekends.
I became connected with New Hope Bible Fellowship when I attended Graduate School at Wheaton College from 2015-2017. Currently, I work as a Marriage and Family therapist at a private practice in the west suburbs but I have maintained my connection with NHBF by working for Dr. Mary Lou as one of her secretaries. I have worked for Dr. Mary Lou for more than 2 years now and I am blessed to be in relationship with such an amazing woman.
A friend, a mentor, a worshiper, and a lover. Passionate about discipleship, community, walking alongside others while collaborating with the Holy Spirit, and seeking God's beauty hidden underneath brokenness.
